Here’s to… 2022!

The first week of the New Year is wrapping up, and I am so excited to see what’s to come in 2022!

I have been spending the past week or so reflecting on 2021 and planning out my 2022. This year has many changes coming my way… one of the biggest is that I graduate from the University of Tennessee this May and have to enter the “real world” after that. I know that this is going to shake up my world in a good way with fresh experiences, but I am a bit unsure what it means for me not to be a student anymore. Ever since I was a little kid, I have had classes and the homework that went with them, but soon I will no longer have that time drain. All my life I have heard that time is the most valuable asset you have and I think that’s true. So as I think about my time after graduation I want to be intentional in how I spend it. I want to invest my “new” time in people, skills, and experiences rather than getting sucked into a new Netflix show.

Here are some of my New Year’s Goals:

  • Get outdoors! – Hike more, flyfish more, and be more intentional about time spent outside
  • Get engaged in my community! – There are so many great organizations in Knoxville that I want to connect with this year
  • Learn some skills! – It is my goal to learn 2 new skills this year as part of intentionally using my spare time. Right now, I’m thinking making focaccia bread and watercolors
  • Travel more! – I have many friends that live across the Southeast and I want to re-connect with them in their home cities to explore like a local
  • Increase balance! – One major learning that COVID taught us and that I am still trying to be mindful of this year is the importance of balance in all aspects of life. This year I want to maintain and increase my work-life balance
