La Crosse Virus Encephalitis (LACE)

Here is where I will be posting my updates about my research opportunity in Dr. Rebecca Trout Fryxell’s Lab!

2019 Recap:

What a whirlwind of action these past 6 months have been! I joined Dr. Trout Fryxell’s team, began ovitrapping (and learned what exactly that meant), helped with MEGA:BITESS a community-driven surveillance program, counted more eggs and raised more mosquitoes than I can even think about, and presented my research at a conference!

Note: More info coming soon, once I am back on campus. I will do a monthly update on what I am working on. In the meantime, remember to wear your bug spray!

2020 Recap:

Even though COIVD-19 has impacted research activity on the University of Tennesse’s Campus, our team is still doing mosquito collections and continuing to run the MEGA:BITESS Program.

2021 Recap:

Mosquito collections and testing continue. I was not as involved in the lab this year as I have been in years past due to schedule conflicts and beginning independent research.

2022 Recap:

I am coming to the end of my time in Dr. Trout Fryxell! I have been helping with the creation of an infographic and video about PCR testing to help with MEGA:BITESS and other lab training.
