Year One Reflection

What a roller coaster ride of a year. This past year has had fantastic highs and harsh lows. I have learned so much about myself this past year and feel like I have grown so very much.

My Pi Phi Bid-Day buddy (and Big) & I when I first ran “home” to Pi Phi.

In the Fall, I joined a sorority and began my time at UT while Hurricane Harvey hit my family over 1,000 miles away. This was a hard event for me to go through because it caused me great discomfort thinking that my family was hurting and there was nothing I could do about it. I felt so powerless.

As the Fall continued, I moved on and soon found friends through sorority (rah, Pi Phi!) and I joined the First Year Council for the Student Government Association. I loved getting to serve my community on campus and helping to amply voices that might not always get heard, especially within a big campus like UT.

In the Spring, I became much more active in and around campus joining Remote Area Medical and beginning to explore the natural beauty here in East Tennessee – There are so many parks and hiking trails that I want to explore!
