For me this year has been filled with lessons. I have learned the value of family and health – especially with the current COVID-19 pandemic.
As the Fall continued, I had the opportunity to take a deep dive into my major (Neuroscience) courses with interesting topics such as Audiology and Abnormal Psychology. In the Fall, I was on campus and working in the lab on mosquito research. I had the opportunity to present my work at the Tennessee Entomological Society annual conference and I actually won first place in the Undergraduate category. I had so much fun presenting at my first conference and hope to be able to return to conferences soon once COVID-19 has passed.
In the Spring, I was shocked by the rapidly spreading COVID-19 pandemic which changed many of my personal plans and moved all my classes online in the middle of the semester. I am so fortunate to be in a fully-funded lab and be able to continue my research this Spring and Summer. I hope that this pandemic is over soon – I already miss my friends and professors!
