Oh, how I love the holidays! For me, Christmas is a reminder of what really matters in life – food, family, laughter, faith, memories! And I love that this reminder comes in the middle of the winter. It’s so easy to get bogged down by seasonal depression with these chilly, dark, gloomy days and I think that it is amazing that our holiday décor and traditions remind us of life and happiness and the bounty that is constantly around us.
The greenery used to deck the halls is a reminder of everlasting light, and the candles constantly lit reminds us of the light of the world. But even more than the symbolism of the décor, the practicality of fires, blankets, furs, and rugs help create the warmth of the season too. This warmth comes just in time to break up the winter blues and I always feel so grateful for it.
This year we decided to have our Christmas décor scheme be “Gnome for the Holidays” since we have been spending so much time at home this year! One of my favorite elements was using buffalo check ribbon to tie the rooms of the house together and making our own wreaths!

How do you enjoy decorating for the holidays, if you celebrate?
